Coming very soon to a timezone near you..

Les Miserables was incredible!
I'd definitely recommend it to everyone :)

The one character I was a little disappointed in was Marius (but he was still great, I just didn't like his voice that much).
I was pleasantly surprised by Cosette and how high Amanda Seyfried's voice could go!
And I have some love in my heart specifically for Enjolras.
Don't watch the movie if you don't like musicals. Or sadness.
It's called Les Miserables for a reason!

Now that it's the 2013, what are you looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to going to watch the Abbotsford Heat vs Chicago Wolves game in January and the All Time Low concert on the 26th!

But the tigers come at night

This is what I'm doing with my last moments of 2012!
Watching Les Miserables with my mom and Jackie.
It's supposed to be a really great movie so I'm excited, I've seen both the 10th Anniversary and the 25th Anniversary concert versions as well.

Merry Christmas...

...kiss my ass!

But really. I hope you're all having a great day. Over here it's raining pretty hard and it's already getting dark out.

What did you get for Christmas?
I got tickets to the Chicago Wolves vs Abbotsford Heat game in January, tickets to the All Time Low concert in January and tickets to the Vancouver Giants vs Kelowna Rockets!
Hopefully, KK will be coming with me to both the Wolves game and All Time Low concert.

I also bought myself a perfume and tomorrow, we're going boxing day shopping!

The new movie I've been watching lately is called 21 Jump Street. It's absolutely hilarious and I'd recommend it to everyone! It is rated R for language.

In the wake of a tragedy

By now, everyone around the world has heard about the horrific shooting that happened in Newtown, Conn. on Friday.
If there is one thing you read today, please let it be this.

A mom with a son showing signs of exploding writes a must read blog post:

All I Want For Christmas

...is hockey.

Here we have the good news and the bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?

The bad news:
The NHL has cancelled NHL games through to December 30th.
Read the sad stuff here.

The good news:
Even if there isn't NHL hockey, it's nearing the end of December (okay, okay, I know it's a while away) and that means...
THE WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Last year, Canada came in 3rd place while Russia and Sweden got 2nd and 1st place respectively.
This year, lets see if we can win it all!

The boys are meeting in Calgary where the roster will be picked.

The 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Junior Championship will be held from December 26 - January 5 in Russia.
The games will be broadcasted on TSN.

We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver

We Need To Talk About Kevin
By Lionel Shriver

Hey everyone! I have a new book recommendation but it will not be suitable for all ages of readers.

I was checking a group on Facebook where someone was asking for books that contained drugs, sex, death etc.
We Need To Talk About Kevin was recommended by a couple people so when I went to the library, I specifically sought it out.

I'd recommend this book for older readers, 16+ because it's long and has some vulgarity. The topic of this book is also extremely difficult- school shootings.

The subject of this book is death and murder. Written in Kevin's mother's perspective as letters to her husband, one year after Thursday, We Need To Talk About Kevin is an emotional roller coaster.
The book starts out well, Eva Khatchadourian and Franklin Plaskett are married and in love. Then Kevin is born and things start to go downhill.

The summary states:

"Eva never really wanted to be a mother- and certainly not the mother of a boy who ends up murdering seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much- adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his sixteenth birthday.

Now, two years later, it is time for her to come to terms with marriage, career, family, parenthood, and Kevin's horrific rampage, in a series of startlingly direct correspondences with her estranged husband, Franklin.

Uneasy with the sacrifices and social demotion of motherhood from the start, Eva fears that her alarming dislike for her own son may be responsible for driving him so nihilistically off the rails."

Throughout the novel, Eva makes references to many (real) school shootings in the late 1990s.

We Need To Talk About Kevin is also a movie, starring Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly.
It is rated R.

Puppy??

Yesterday, my mom and I went down to the States to look at some Rat Terrier puppies!
We found one we liked, who's 6 weeks old right now. In two weeks, we'll be able to bring him home!

Also, Hannah just got spayed (she's 7) because she was a breeding dog before we got her.
She hates the surgical collar.

Here's KK's dog, Brinks!
He can do tricks.
