The Croods

Hey everyone! I just got home from watching The Croods with my mom.
It was really good, funny and cute.
I recommend it over Oz: The Great and Powerful but they're similar as they're both set in different "worlds".

I also snuck into Silver Linings Playbook for the ending and I cried, again.

On another note:

Good luck!

Random thoughts

Silly joke of the day:

Mom: That cat looks like it's walking down the runway.
Me: There's a reason it's called the catwalk!

Is it strange that I'm turning 18 in a bit and I don't like to wear makeup?
Actually... I don't even know how to apply makeup!!!

Honestly, the only way I'd be able to post pictures of myself would be with makeup...

Alright, my new challenge is to properly put on makeup before my birthday! (August)

I really like these lenses!
These are definitely not the lenses to get if you're looking for a really bright, shocking blue.
According to my mom, these make my eyes seem more hazel.

I like to think of these as more of an everyday type lens.
They're very comfortable, with no halo around anything when I look out of the corner of my eye. It probably has to do with the pupil hole being so large.

The Face

Do you guys enjoy watching shows like American Idol and The Bachelor/ The Bachelorette where people get eliminated?
I don't usually, because I get too attached. However, the one I've been watching lately is called

We're onto the finale next week! I really want Zhi Lin to win.

The summary:

Three supermodels (Coco Rocha, Naomi Campbell and Karolina Kurkova) will each hand pick a team of four girls from all over the world to compete to be the face of Ulta Beauty.

Burned by Ellen Hopkins

Burned
By Ellen Hopkins

It's been a while since I've had a book recommendation for you guys!
I just finished reading this book last night and I found the ending to be really sad.

I've had my eye on books by Ellen Hopkins for a very long time but I was not ready for them 'til now.
As well as writing about difficult topics, Mrs. Hopkins writes in poetry form which I believe makes her words even more powerful.

Burned is a hard book to describe.

The back reads,

"I felt angry,
                                                           frustrated.

I felt like I didn't belong, not in my
church, not in my home,
                                                          not in my skin.

Raised in a religious-- yet abusive-- family, Pattyn Von Stratten starts asking questions-- about God, a woman's role, sex, love.

She experiences the first stirrings of passion, but when her father catches her in a compromising position, events spiral out of control.
Pattyn is sent to live with an aunt in the wilds of Nevada to find salvation and redemption.

What she finds instead is love and acceptance-- until she realizes that her old demons will not let her go."

Seventeen year old Pattyn is the eldest daughter in a large Mormon family who is sent off to live with her aunt in Nevada for the summer, temporarily escaping her alcoholic, abusive father.
While living with her aunt, she begins to find true love and acceptance only to lose it all when she returns home.

Please be warned that this book contains abusive behavior.

Other books by Ellen Hopkins include the best sellers Crank, Impulse and Glass.

Late night thoughts (2)

Sometimes I wish I could become a giant so that I'd be able to take one step and be at my destination where I could shrink down into normal human size again.

The Perks of Being A Wallflower

I finally got around to watching The Perks of Being A Wallflower tonight and it was really good.
It's based off of a book of the same name which I haven't read yet.

The movie may trigger some people so I'll just throw that out there as well.

Spoiler (Trigger Warning)...
